The road to becoming one of the most highly trained ear specialists in the country took Dr. Charles “Lane” Anzalone from South Louisiana to the leading edge of medicine, but his goal was always to bring that elite expertise right back home. A Crowley native who graduated top of his class in bioengineering at LSU, Dr. Anzalone went on to earn his medical degree in the top percentile of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society.

From there, his educational journey took him to the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, where he was accepted as one of only four surgical residents worldwide in their ENT department. While at Mayo, he authored internationally recognized research, was voted top resident teacher by his peers, and earned a prestigious Department of Defense grant for his work helping veterans with ear conditions. Notably, he received the Mayo Clinic Karis Award, a rare honor celebrating clinicians who exhibit extraordinary integrity, compassion, and patient stewardship.

Recognizing a critical gap in specialized ear and hearing care back home in Acadiana, Dr. Anzalone chose to pursue advanced fellowship training in Otology and Neurotology. Training under world-famous ear specialist, Dr. John L. Dornhoffer at the University of Arkansas, he mastered everything from standard pediatric ear tubes to complex cochlear implantations. Today, he stands as the only fellowship-trained ear specialist in the entire Acadiana region, and one of just a few in the Gulf Coast region.

After traveling the country to train alongside medicine’s brightest minds, Dr. Anzalone has finally brought his world-class skill set home. When he isn’t transforming patient lives at our clinic, you can find him cheering on LSU football, enjoying the great outdoors, and soaking up quality time with his family.
